AEP BUSINESSES IN OHIO BE AWARE: PLEASE REPOST THIS OR SHARE THIS information 1/31/12.   Distribution rates are going up FROM $.043 cents to over $.103 cents for many small businesses. The Obama administration put in place strict EPA standards (Clean Air Act) which made in economically impossible for AEP to upgrade their coal burning... power plants. AEP was virtually forced to shut down 14 coal burning power plants. The expense will come to many of the smaller to medium sized businesses. Large companies are not seeing quite the increase. The blunt of it will hit small businesses so I guess if you are large enough that you can get someone to lobby for you your rates will be lowered too. In an article we read in the Columbus Dispatch the PUCO director “warned that the state faced a public relations nightmare once businesses saw their first bill”. SO our attitude is that if no one else is going to represent you lets all represent us.
